How Much Power Could You Generate From Home?
One question that a lot of people ask is: "how much power could I generate from a solar panel or wind turbine installed in my home"? This is a fairly realistic question - as it makes sense to project the potential cost savings generated by such a device. The answer, of course, will vary depending on the size of the turbine / solar panel - and the amount of wind / sun that you get in your area.
One thing you could do is to take a good look at the main weather factors around your area. If there is a lot of wing and rain, a wind turbine would probably be a better idea rather than the solar panel. Alternatively, the opposite would be the best choice if you lived in a sunny, dry place.
Having decided on one (or both) of the power generating devices, the next factor in the exact level of generation is how effectively you build the devices. This is especially the case for wind turbines.
Optimum Levels & Angles
When it comes to wind power - the entire project could be labeled a success or a failure, based around just a few things. Firstly - are you building the device to the optimum specifications, or are you missing out on some potential power. More often than not, people who use second rank building guides are automatically putting themselves at a disadvantage, because these guides do not show what the exact angles or optimum settings of the wind turbine should be. Instead, they just go ahead and glue everything together - so that it ends up looking like a wind turbine.
This simply won't cut it. If you are to succeed and genuinely generate power from home - you need to get things right, from the very start.
Facts & Figures
Having constructed a successfully and optimally designed wind turbine and solar panel ourselves, we can give you a few facts which will give you some indication of the levels of power generation that you could expect.
- Wind Power:
Given blades which are 8 feet in diameter (standard) - you could expect anything from 400 to 700 watts of power. Of course, the more turbines you build, the higher the amount of power generated.
- Solar Power:
Expect a decent 100 watts per solar panel (realistic expectation - standard sized panel).
